Film's kaput

The Head of a film studio has purchased the rights to adapt a famous novel into a film. According to the contract terms, the Author will receive a one-time payment and a percentage of the film's final gross. To work on the film, the head of the film studio recruited a star Actor. In addition to playing the lead role in the movie, the actor was also assigned the duties of executive producer. The fee for his work amounted to 10 million rubles, which he would receive regardless of whether the movie was released or not, according to the contract. After starting the project, the actor strongly insisted on hiring additional crew members and a team of personal assistants. However, the head of the studio refused to increase the production budget. Due to disagreements, the filming of the movie was postponed several times, and Actor decided to exit the project. 

Pre-negotiation points:

The Author - wants to facilitate the start of filming and, in case of failure, recover lost profits from the head of the film studio.

The Head of the film studio - is unwilling to increase the budget for production, and in case of shooting disruption, he is prepared to take Actor to court to cover the incurred losses.

The Actor - tired of arguing with the head of the studio, wishes to receive his payment and leave the project
