To the Future Unbound

Two managers secure jobs at the same large company at about the same time.

Both are talented and passionate about their work. They talk a lot about common projects, exchange ideas and, become friends.

Ten years later, both got very high on the career ladder. Both became candidates for President of the company. Unexpectedly, the First Friend publicly accuses theSecond Friend of misconduct in the corporate media and declares him his ideological enemy.

Such a sudden turn shocks the Second Friend. He decides that there had been a dreadful misunderstanding. He calls the First Friend and offers to meet and sort everything out, but gets refusal. The Second Friend reminds the First Friend of their long friendship. In response, the First Friend says that it is in the past, and they need to move on. Shocked by his comrade's cynicism, the Second Friend arranges a meeting with an Influential Mate from the Board of Directors for clarification. He did not commit any misconduct, after all.

Pre-negotiation points:

The First Friend - was told something about the Second Friend by one colleague, that made him lose all respect for the Second Friend. He intends to become the company’s president and will not tolerate dishonest people in his organization.The First Friend is ready to achieve goals at any cost.

The Second Friend - intends to figure everything out, as he is not guilty of anything and shocked by the immoral behaviour and careerism of the First Friend, who is ready to go over the heads of his friends. He wants to use all his resources to prevent the man who vilified him from taking the presidency.

The Influential Mate - knows about the intrigues in the company, sympathizes with The Second Friend, but has no intent to plunge into conflict. He will support the one who will win.
